We have a delightful group of adult members, from the young to the young at heart. Our group is a mixture of published authors and aspiring writers of all genres. The purpose of our group is to encourage, instruct, develop, and promote Christian writers.
During our meetings we share the responsiblity of sharing a writing lesson and cover a variety of topics. We provide an opportunity to share and critique selections of members' writings and take some time to plan our conference. And of course, there is plenty of time for refreshments and fellowship.
Each year the MFCW holds a Christian writers conference. Our first conference was in 1993. We've been blessed to feature speakers and workshops by the following: Sally Stuart (Christian Writers Market), Dr. Clarine Coffin Grenfell, Robert and Martha Stevenson (publishers), Genie Dailey (editor), Lawrence Chewning (songwriter), Susan Page Davis (author), Yvonne Ortega (author), Darryl E. Witmer (founder of AIIA Ministries), Jean Ann Pollard (author), Edie Cunningham and Karen Weitzel (authors/ABWE), Dr. Ken Parker, Dr. Wil Dowd, Rev. Jeanne Breden, and Rev. Ted Chaffee. This year we add to this list Cecil Murphey, Ruth Axtell Morren, and Yvonne Ortega.
